Western Montana game wardens are trying to track down the individual(s) responsible for an odd poaching incident that happened early this week near Haugen, Montana.

"On Monday the 29th, early in the morning hours, just behind the $50,000 Silver Dollar gas station there off of I-90, an employee noticed a blood trail in the parking lot," said FWP spokeswoman Vivica Crowser. "When wardens investigated, they found a white-tail doe that had been shot multiple times with a small caliber rifle."

The deer was discarded behind the gas station, but only after it had been field dressed. Curiously, the poacher(s) removed the animals heart and liver, but left the meat and the rest of the entrails to spoil.

Anyone with information about this poaching is advised to call 1 800 TIP-MONT (1-800-847-6668). Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward up to $1,000 for information leading to a conviction.
