Montana Governor Steve Bullock is pressuring the state’s congressional delegation to work together to reauthorize secure rural schools (or SRS) funding. The SRS Act was signed into law back in 2000 (see picture), but died in the legislature in September 2014.

Montana Secretary of State Linda McCulloch is asking for the Montana Legislature to change the way the state fills vacancies when a U.S. Senator representing Montana leaves office before a term ends. Right now, such a vacancy would be filled by a gubernatorial appointment.
A bill (SB 2) before the Montana Legislature would raise the state’s minimum wage by two dollars and five cent up to $10.10 an hour. Box Elder Representative Jonathan Windy Boy says a living wage would be around $15 an hour, but that $10.10 has a better chance of making it through the legislature.
