The Haynes Foundation founded by Jack Ellis Haynes and Isabel May Haynes in 1958 has contributed to the University of Montana for many years, but University of Montana Foundation President Shane Giese says a new gift from the Haynes Foundation will leave a permanent mark on UM.

“The Haynes Foundation has supported scholarships here at the University of Montana for many years,” Giese said. “They have given a gift now to perpetuate those scholarships in the form of an endowment. The endowment will be just a little over $4 million.”

The four million dollar endowment is designed to aid students from Montana.

“It will be for scholarships for deserving students who are Montana students,” Giese said. “So it will be for in-state students to come here. We will begin and have been annually awarding these scholarships. There were awards made this year on some annual funding that was provided, they are the in the process and will continue.”

After breaking donation records for the past two years, the University of Montana Foundation shows no signs of slowing down. Giese says that the University of Montana Foundation is ahead of pace for 2016 as well.
