Today, February 27, is the half-way mark for the 2015 Montana Legislative session.  says his party feels good about the process so far.

"We're feeling fairly good about the outcome of the first half of the session," said House Minority Leader, Democrat Chuck Hunter. "I would say the the session so far has been conducted in a fairly civil and professional way I think decorum is up, which is a good thing. But, civility and professionalism is not the same as progress, I think we are behind where we should be in a number of areas."

Hunter said democrats want more progress on infrastructure and Medicaid expansion, but applauded the House on passing education and mental health measures early this year. Republican Senator Fred Thomas says spirits are up on the Republican side of the aisle too.

"In the big picture things are going much better than they did during the last session particularly. The Republican caucuses, House and Senate, are working together better than they did before. That is the big plus for people wanting to know how that is going, because we had a big divide last time that was augmented by people pushing for a divide."

Thomas said that the Republican leadership needs to get more tax cutting legislation to Governor Bullock’s desk, so the public can better see the differences between the two parties.
