Western men's hoops signs JC guard

DILLON, Mont. (AP) — Montana Western men's basketball coach Steve Keller has announced the signing of guard Kris Collins of New Orleans.

Collins transfers to Western after two seasons at Reedley College in Reedley, Calif. Last season, Collins averaged 12.2 points, 1.9 assists and 1.3 steals per game and made nearly 40 percent of his 3-point shots.

Keller says Collins is an outstanding 3-point shooter and a great defender who also has the ability to post up.

 

JC transfer signs with MSU Billings men's hoops

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — Montana State Billings men's basketball coach Jamie Stevens has announced the signing of guard and wing Devon Wallace of Portland, Ore.

Wallace transfers to MSU Billings from Eastern Arizona College in Thatcher, Ariz. Over the past two seasons, he has averaged 9.5 points, four assists and 3.5 rebounds per game.

He played his high school basketball at Westview High in Portland, which advanced to the state championship game during his senior year in 2009-10.

Stevens says he likes Wallace's size and athleticism and expects him to see a lot of playing time.

 

MSU Billings women's hoops signs Great Falls guards

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — Montana State Billings women's basketball coach Kevin Woodin has announced the signing of a pair of prep guards from Great Falls.

Brandy Kumm of C.M. Russell High School and Katie Schermele of Great Falls High plan to join the Yellowjackets for the 2012-13 season.

Kumm averaged just over eight points per game for the Rustlers and had 52 assists, 69 rebounds and 45 steals in 24 games.

Schermele averaged six points, three rebounds, 1.4 assists and two steals per game for the Bison.
