Montana Residents Injured When Car Hits Moose
COEUR d'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — The Idaho State Police says five Great Falls, Mont., residents were injured when the car they were in struck a moose on Interstate 90 in northern Idaho.
The ISP says 14-year-old Ryan Comesatnight of Great Falls was westbound shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday when a moose entered the roadway in Cataldo. He was unable to avoid hitting the animal and its head came through the window. Comesatnight was not injured.
The ISP says 43-year-old April Deroche, 45-year-old Martin Tellesch and 26-year-old Danielle Comesatnight were injured and taken to Shoshone Medical Center in Kellogg.
Officers say two 5-year-olds — Dustin and Elgin Choate — were not in safety seats. Dustin was taken to Shoshone Medical Center while Elgin was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Wash.
The moose died.
