Montana gas prices have been hovering for weeks, but have finally started to drop.

"In Montana today we have a statewide average of $3.52 a gallon, a week ago we were at $3.53," said gasbuddy.com Petroleum Analyst Greg Laskoski. "Nationwide though, we are expecting a bit of an interruption to the trend of lowering prices because of something that happened to four refineries in Texas."

Laskoski said that the refinery troubles may not effect Montana prices though. He also says the cheapest prices of the year are on their way.

"We expect that the national average will reach its lowest point sometime during the Christmas shopping season, sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas, and that the average, which is at $3.33 today, will fall somewhere between $3.15 and $3.24 a gallon," Laskoski said.

Currently, Montana gas prices are about 10 cents cheaper per gallon than they were at the same time last year.
