Early Friday morning, Missoula Police were searching for a man who had warrants out for his arrest. Public Information Officer Travis Welsh says officers searched many different places in an effort to find the man.

“Just before 2:00 a.m., officers were actively looking for a person that they knew to have outstanding warrants out for his arrest,” said Welsh. “They had been searching parking lots at various hotels. He has been known to stay temporarily at different venues around town.”

According to Welsh, officers eventually located a car associated with the man in the 700 block of East Broadway.

“Through the course of their investigation they made contact with persons in a specific room where they did in fact locate this gentleman,” Welsh said. “Through further investigation and witness statements they also learned that there were various kinds of drugs in the room.”

Officers found heroin and methamphetamine and took 39-year-old Jackie Daniel Ainsworth into custody. Ainsworth was charged with two felony counts of criminal possession of dangerous drugs with intent to distribute.
