60-year-old William Kirby is facing felony burglary charges after police say he broke into a Missoula residence for a drink.

"At about 2:00 a.m. we received a call from a resident the 700 block of Bulwer Street who  had reported finding a male inside his kitchen who didn't belong and was not a guest, who had not been invited in, "said Missoula Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh.  "Actually the resident had observed a light on from the kitchen that they later determined to be a refrigerator light."

One of the home occupants walked out to investigate and actually witnessed the refrigerator raider in action.

"The male resident went out into the kitchen an observed an older male in the refrigerator and then leaving out of the back door," Welsh said. "The male was subsequently arrested just down the street where he was in possession of items taken from the complainants refrigerator. He took a couple of bottles of beer."

The home occupants did not know Kirby, though said they had seen him in the area. Kirby is being held in the Missoula County Jail on $50,000 bond.
