On February 3, a meeting will be held in Polson to discuss the proposed CSKT water rights compact as it pertains to the City of Polson.

Public Information Officer Karen Sargeant said the meeting is considered an informational workshop.

"We're going to have representatives from the State of Montana, the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, and we're also inviting opponents of the compact to give their information, as well," Sargeant said. "The goal of the work session is to hear information strictly relating to municipal ground water claims that the city holds, and how these claims may be affected by the compact."

Sargeant said there will be time for public comment after the presentations which are not intended to be political in any way.

"The Commissioners may call for public comment, so citizens are encouraged to attend," she said. "This working session will start at 6:00 p.m. and end precisely at 8:00 p.m. and no political positions will be taken at this work session."

The meeting will be held in the Commission Chambers at 106 1st Street East in Polson. For more information, call Karen Sargeant at 406-249-5123.
