Officials in eastern Montana say a Tennessee man lost his right leg below the knee when he crawled under a freight train just as the train started to move.

Rosebud County Undersheriff Arlen Thingvold tells the Miles City Star that 42-year-old Gary Fleming of La Vergne, Tenn., was injured just after 2 a.m. Sunday in Forsyth.

Thingvold says Fleming was "highly intoxicated" after having been downtown. Investigators believe Fleming may have started walking back to his motel before going back to where his pickup was parked to get his room key.

Thingvold says Fleming's left foot also was run over. He was flown to a Billings hospital for treatment.
