35 year-old Charles Hill is in the Missoula County Jail after allegedly robbing a woman at gunpoint on Saturday.

Missoula Police spokesman Travis Welsh described the incident.

“Saturday, just before 1:00 a.m. we received a report of a robbery taking place in the 2900 block of Brooks Street,” said Welsh. “A female caller had reported that a male that she was acquainted with had gotten in her car in a parking lot and pointed a handgun at her demanding the money that she had. He actually ended up taking her purse. There was a brief struggle before the male panicked and dropped the purse that contained the handgun and then fled the area.”

Welsh described what happened when officers arrived.

“Officers arrived and made contact with the 20 year-old female who described a 35 year-old male with the first name of Charles, and also pointed out where the handgun was laying on the parking lot,” he said. “The officers seized the handgun and discovered that it was a BB gun and not a real gun. About the same time officers located a male matching the description running in the 1600 block of South Avenue. They identified him as 35 year-old Charles Hill.”

Hill appeared in Missoula Justice Court on Monday, where his bail was set at $50,000.
