Missoula Police have captured a suspect in an armed robbery that occurred at the Holiday Convenience Store on Russell Street on Monday, August 24. During the robbery, a man threatened the store clerk with a kitchen knife and then escaped with a 24-pack of Bud Light. Missoula Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh says the suspect was captured on Wednesday afternoon.

'As of 3:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon [August 26] we have made an arrest in the case," Welsh said. "Brandon Galbreath, 19 years of age had been identified, a warrant was issued and he was arrested. He will appear, presumably, this evening at 2:30 p.m. in Justice Court."

During the robbery, Galbreath was filmed pointing and making obscene gestures at the cameras, an act that directly led to his arrest.

"It does appear that he was aware of the cameras and at one point even pointed at the camera," Welsh said. "It became obvious that he found it and knew it was there, and we presume he knew it was on. He looked right at [the camera] and helped us get a good idea of his facial features and  structure to the point where someone looked at [the pictures we sent out] and said 'I know who that is and I know where he is.'"

According to Montana law, if convicted of felony armed robbery, Galbreath could face between two and 40 years in prison along with a potential fine of up to $50,000… all for a case of beer that can be purchased for less than $20.
