Madam of Historic Butte Brothel Dies [audio]

Ruby Garrett, the former Madam of the Dumas Brothel in Butte passed away on Saturday. She was 94 years old. KGVO News spoke with Butte history teacher and friend of Mrs. Garrett, Chris Fisk to hear some of the stories she left behind.

The current owner of the Dumas Brothel, Rudy Giecek had even more stories to tell.

The Dumas Brothel was America’s longest running brothel. It continued running well after laws were put in place to stop prostitution in Montana. The brothel was finally forced to close it’s doors after Ruby was targeted for tax evasion in 1982.
