The University's volleyball program won the Team Academic Award from the American Volleyball Coaches Association, their second in three years.

To win this award, a team must have a grade point average of at least 3.3 during the fall and spring semesters. The Griz, who were one of 92 programs to receive the award, finshed with a team GPA of 3.46.

Additionally, Sentinel High School was awarded with the Montana High School Association's NorthWestern Energy Academic Excellence Award for the 2010-11 school year. One winner from each classification level (AA, A, B and C) is selected, and the Spartans received the Class AA award, the fifth time in school history that's happened.
