If you’re one of the millions of shoe fanatics who shop on Zappos.com, you may want to change your site password — the company says it’s fallen victim to hackers who’ve accessed consumers’ personal information.

In an announcement posted on Zappos’ site Sunday night that was signed by Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh, the online retailer says cyber criminals may have accessed data, including names, contact information, and the last four digits of consumers’ credit card numbers (full credit card numbers were stored separately and Zappos claims they were not compromised).

Although passwords were encrypted, Zappos is still requiring all consumers to set new passwords, and recommends that consumers who use their Zappos password on other sites change those passwords as well.

With upwards of 24 million customers affected, Zappos’ data breach is among the biggest thefts of customer information in history — but it’s still considerably smaller than last year’s incident involving the Sony Play Station Network, which affected 77 million customers.
