Griz In The Pros Week 12 Roundup
This week's crop of former Montana Grizzlies in the NFL got an early start.
On Thursday, the Miami Dolphins visited the Dallas Cowboys for their annual Thanksgiving Day rivalry game. Miami gave the 'Boys all they could handle, but fell short on a walk-off field goal 20-19.
For the second week in a row, kicker Dan Carpenter was inactive due to a groin injury. Cornerback Jimmy Wilson chipped in a single special teams tackle, while running back Lex Hilliard saw playing time but did not record any official statistics.
Everyone else played on Sunday, including the Chicago Bears, who lost at Oakland 25-20. Offensive tackle Levi Horn, who was just promoted to the 53-man active roster last week, suited up but did not get into the game.
The Philadelphia Eagles continued their season-long nosedive with an embarrassing 38-20 loss to the New England Patriots. Safety Colt Anderson picked up one special teams tackle in the loss.
The Atlanta Falcons continue to be our best bet to see Grizzlies in the postseason. The Dirty Birds held serve at home against Minnesota, defeating the Vikings 24-14. Defensive end Kroy Biermann finished with 1 quarterback hit defensively, and 1 special teams tackle. Safety Shann Schillinger got into the game, but didn't finish with any official stats.
Finally, the Tennessee Titans continue to hang around in the AFC playoff picture. The Titans improved to 6-5 with a 23-17 home win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Wide receiver Marc Mariani returned one punt for 3 yards, and 4 kickoffs for 83 yards. But the play of the day came when Mariani acted as a decoy. On one kickoff return, Mariani handed the ball off to Tommy Campbell, who proceeded to rumble 84 yards for a Titan touchdown.
