A meeting originally scheduled to occur at the Ravalli county fairgrounds on Thursday has been canceled. The goal of the meeting was to give the public an opportunity to talk about the effects of smoke and fire on public health, the economy and the way that local government functions, but was planned before the sawtooth fire exploded over the weekend.

The venue where the meeting was to be held will now be occupied by the Forest Service, which is leasing the fairgrounds to use them as an operations base to fight the Sawtooth fire.

Ravalli County Commissioner Suzie Foss says the meeting will be rescheduled, but probably not until late fall.
