18 year-old MacLean Kaiser is being held in the Ravalli County Jail without bond for allegedly posting an online threat to the Darby High School using Snapchat.

Sheriff Steve Holton said the incident was first investigated by the Darby Marshal’s office.

“Yesterday the school district got some information regarding a Snapchat post referencing the recent school shootings in Florida, tying that with a threat to the Darby School District,” said Holton. “The school did a great job informing law enforcement and the Darby Marshal’s office started an investigation. The school district took the additional step of identifying that student, suspending him and restricting him from school property.”

Holton said with the incarceration of the sole suspect, the threat to the Darby School District has been neutralized, and Kaiser will appear in Ravalli County Justice Court either Tuesday or Wednesday to face a felony charge of assault with a weapon.

Holton said Kaiser was arrested without incident, and is being held in the Ravalli County Detention Center in Hamilton.
