Republicans say a plan the House Appropriations Committee approved would fund k-12 education at or above the Governor's proposed budget, which calls for 71 million dollars to be transferred from oil and gas revenue. The committee's plan takes about 30 million dollars from oil and gas, and the rest from various other accounts, including telecommunications, but to make those other transfers, the house has drafted a new bill, that has yet to be introduced, and that has Superintendent of Public Instruction Denise Juneau concerned.
