BLM To Expedite Review Of 3 Wyoming Wind Projects

Three Wyoming wind farm projects have been included for the first time on a list of renewable energy projects that the federal government will expedite review of for approval.

The Bureau of Land Management released a list of 17 projects it will give priority review in 2012. The projects are located in Wyoming, Arizona, California and Nevada.

The Wyoming projects identified are the Chokecherry and Sierra Madre project proposed by Power Company of Wyoming LLC in central Carbon County south of Rawlins; the Sand Hills project proposed by Shell Wind Energy in western Albany County; and the White Mountain project proposed by Teton Wind LLC northwest of Rock Springs in Sweetwater County.

Proposed projects involving federal land normally require time-consuming environmental review before developers can begin construction.
