Authorities Searching For Missing Gun Used in Armed Robbery [AUDIO]

On May 7, 2011, the Gray Wolf Peak Casino at the top of Evaro Hill was robbed at gunpoint.

Authorities have arrested David Whaley and charged him with armed robbery, however, a vital piece of evidence in the crime is still missing. Spokesman for the Missoula County Sheriff’s Department, Jason Johnson, says the handgun used in the crime is a Springfield Armory .40 caliber XD model.

Johnson says it is believed that Whaley, who lives in Polson, may have hidden the gun or sold it to someone in Polson or Missoula. Johnson says authorities have checked with all the gun and pawn shops in the area, but have not recovered the weapon, so the public is being asked to help.

Five-Valleys Crimestoppers enables the public to anonymously report the location of the gun, but authorities are also willing to reimburse whoever may have unknowingly purchased the weapon used in the crime.

If you have any information, please call Detective Gunter at 531-1756 or Crimestoppers at 721-44-44.
