Sandy Hook Memorial in Missoula, Tuesday at Rose Park

A candlelight vigil remembering the victims of Friday's shootings in Connecticut will be held at 4p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18 at Rose Park in Missoula off of Brooks Street.

Event creator Kayla Kelly Somefeld decided to host the vigil event after hearing of the events in Newtown, Conn. where 28 people, including 20 children, were shot and killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Missoula County Public Schools Offer Tips to Support Children in Wake of Tragedy

At about the time of writing this article, many parents around Missoula are picking their children up from area schools, giving them a big hug, and heading home to assess the situations that unfolded today in Connecticut. While it may feel as if Missoula is a world away from the horrifying events that took place at Sandy Hook Elementary, it's inevitable that children all over the valley will have many questions.

A letter has just been sent out to parents of students attending schools in Missoula County offering advice and support following today's Connecticut shooting. From the desk of Alex P. Apostle, the superintendent of MCPS offers some important reminders and remedies that can be applied in the wake of today's events.

Three of the Most Expensive Hotels in America Are in Montana

If you were asked to name the most expensive hotel in the U.S., you’d probably choose a posh hotel in one of the big cities like New York, but a new survey reveals the priciest location is in Philipsburg, Montana.

A survey by Luxury-Hotels.com finds The Ranch at Rock Creek in Philipsburg is the most expensive hotel in the U.S., based on the average daily price for a standard double room for the period spanning June through September 2012. Folks pay, on average, $2,279 per night at The Ranch. And that’s based on double occupancy.

Where Can We Find the Last Remaining Twinkies in Missoula?

We just got off the phone with Hostess Brands Inc. on Reserve Street and spoke with an unnamed employee who is saddened to report that there is an official shortage of Twinkies in the Missoula area.

"No shipments in the past two weeks, not a single truck delivery in the longest time. That's it." said an anonymous worker who worked at the Sweetheart Bakery. "We are officially done."
