Police in Anaconda are investigating the theft of about $30,000 of copper wire from equipment being stored at the Pioneer Concrete & Fuel crushing pit near Fairmont.

Nelcon Inc., of Kalispell, says someone cut the wire out of 17 asphalt motors that it was storing at the Pioneer yard after a reconstruction job in Butte.

Nelcon plant supervisor Josh Roberts says the thefts happened sometime over the past month.

He tells The Montana Standard it is expected to take three weeks to get the motors back up and running.
