A Change in Canadian Law Has Montana Retailers Smiling

Canadians can now spend twice as much in the States without having to pay duties at the border. The amounts have jumped from $200 for a day of travel to $400 and the change has Montana retailers hoping to see more tourist spending this weekend. President of the Kalispell chamber of commerce Joe Unterreiner spoke with KGVO about the change and what he hopes to see in the near future.

There are no hard numbers yet as to how the change will impact Montana businesses, but it’s hard to see any negative outcomes for retailers.
