Wall Street’s Presidential Candidates

Judging by the President's rhetoric, you might be surprised to find that Wall Street "fat cats" are one of the top three donor groups to Obama's campaign. At 24 Million, Lawyers are still outspending the 14.5 million that investors have handed to Obama, but the donations are surprising to many who thought Wall Street would turn away from the President.

So far, Republican nominee Mitt Romney has pulled in $9.5 million. still shy of the Obama's totals, but significant nonetheless. According to a Wall Street Journal article titled Wall Street is still Giving to President by Peter Nicholas and Daniel Lippman, No other industry has donated more to the Romney campaign.

There is no big walkaway message here, other than to note the fact that Wall Street throws money to both sides. Whether that makes candidates more or less dirty is a matter for another post.
