Three Hour Hearing Held on Montana Wolf Stamp Proposal
More than 100 people spoke in a three-hour statewide video conference on Montana wildlife officials' plan to create a wolf management stamp.
The $20 stamps would be considered donations by non-hunters that would help fund management of the animals.
Many hunters said Thursday they worry the stamps would allow non-hunters to demand Fish, Wildlife and Parks to manage game differently. Hunter Mike Shepard says he is "against anything that would allow these guys to have a seat at the sportsmen's table."
Leslie Miller is on the other side of the debate. She says she is thrilled by the proposal because she feels as though her voice has not been heard.
FWP Director Jeff Hagener will make the final determination. The agency plans to file its decision by September's end.
