Water Rights

A spokesman for the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes says the state Legislature's failure to ratify a water-rights compact has left the tribes no choice but to take legal action.

Rep. Champ Edmonds says House Democrats and the Montana Supreme Court threw a curve ball in trying to blast the water rights compact onto the House floor. He regrets voting for the blast motion and says another attempt will likely fail.
