Northwest Montana has reached "severe drought" status in the U.S. Drought Monitor as a lack of rain and high temperatures are beginning to heat up streams across the state.
Congressman Ryan Zinke toured the Flathead Valley and the Hungry Horse Ranger Station earlier this week and said that fire season has certainly descended upon Northern Montana.
Western Montana is under a heat advisory for most of the weekend—reaching temperatures that most of the state hasn’t seen for over a century.
A very warm high pressure system will begin to develop over the Northern Rockies this Friday and will bring record high temperatures this weekend through at least the end of June—temps that the month of June in Missoula and western Montana has never felt!
