After Chance Geery, 18, was killed by a distracted driver while walking on the sidewalk by Mullan Road on April 1, grieving family and friends appealed to the city of Missoula and other officials for a change in the speed limit from 45 to 35 miles per hour.

Yoon Hee Cho, the woman whose distracted driving on April 1 led to the death of Hellgate High School student Chance Geery, was sentenced in Missoula Municipal Court on Thursday.

On April 1, Chance Geery, 18,  was struck and killed by a distracted driver, Yoon Hee Cho, 38, an assistant professor at the University of Montana. It was determined last week that no felony charges could be filed in the case.

18 year-old Chance Geery was struck and killed while walking with his girlfriend along Mullan Road on April 1. The investigation into his death has been underway by the Missoula Police Department and the Montana Highway Patrol.

A horse worth more than $5,000 was found shot to death on Saturday on a ranch located on Mullan Road in Missoula.The horse was found dead with a bullet hole in his neck.
