The city of Missoula is working to develop new projects to deal with city growth, partially funded by a federal BUILD grant. City planner Andrew Wilson and Missoula County planner Andrew Hagemeier spoke to KGVO News about the initial planning phase and ways that the community can get involved.

With major development planned in the West Broadway, Reserve Street and Mullan Road areas, Montana Senator Steve Daines visited the area across from the Hellgate Elementary School to talk about how the federal government can help fund the improvements.

Knife River, in conjunction with the Montana Department of Transportation, will be doing road repairs and construction in the Mullan Road area between Flynn and Frey Roads on May 26 and June 2.

A Missoula man, 26, was killed late Wednesday night when his vehicle struck a guard rail west of Missoula on LaCasse Lane just off Mullan Road.

After Chance Geery, 18, was killed by a distracted driver while walking on the sidewalk by Mullan Road on April 1, grieving family and friends appealed to the city of Missoula and other officials for a change in the speed limit from 45 to 35 miles per hour.

Yoon Hee Cho, the woman whose distracted driving on April 1 led to the death of Hellgate High School student Chance Geery, was sentenced in Missoula Municipal Court on Thursday.

On April 1, Chance Geery, 18,  was struck and killed by a distracted driver, Yoon Hee Cho, 38, an assistant professor at the University of Montana. It was determined last week that no felony charges could be filed in the case.

18 year-old Chance Geery was struck and killed while walking with his girlfriend along Mullan Road on April 1. The investigation into his death has been underway by the Missoula Police Department and the Montana Highway Patrol.
