The COVID 19 pandemic has dealt a one-two punch to the Montana University System over the last few months, with remote learning to close the spring semester, unsure enrollment numbers and the loss of college football revenues with the cancellation of the fall season.

The Montana University System is getting a start on the new school year by putting together an impressive group of leaders and administrators as part of the ‘Health Fall 2020 Task Force’.

It’s a big step for the Montana University System, but one for which they’ve been preparing for over the last few weeks.

“The portal is really about leveling the playing field for all Montanans to access our Montana University System,” says Communications Director Karen Ogden.

For many years, tuition at Montana University System schools was frozen, which led to an increase in enrollment throughout the system, and thanks to Governor Bullock’s executive budget, tuition will be frozen again for the next two years.

The Montana Board of Regents will hold their next meeting in Missoula on the University of Montana Campus this Thursday and Friday, November 15 and 16.

Low income students from 150 high schools are applying to Montana colleges free this week.

Montana Governor Steve Bullock and Commissioner of Higher Education Clayton Christian announced on Thursday a new initiative to increase access to higher education through dual enrollment for Montana high school students.

The Montana University System received a $25,000 Grant from the Lumina Foundation’s fund for Racial Justice and Equity.

The University of Montana-Western campus at Dillon was closed due to a bomb threat on Friday morning.
