A combination of hot temperatures and a lack of moisture in the past two weeks caused the Missoula County Fire Protection Association to raise the fire danger level from ‘High’ to ‘Very High’ on Monday.
Since Missoula is surrounded by forestland, and many homes and developments are in what is called 'the wildland urban interface', preparing a defensible space around residential property is essential.
Officials with the Missoula County Fire Protection Association have raised the fire danger level from 'High' to "Very High" as of Monday afternoon.
Monday morning, based on current and expected weather conditions, fire officials with the Missoula County Fire Protection Association (MCFPA) agreed to move the fire danger in Missoula County to "Very High" starting at midnight on July 29.
