A series of snowy, windy systems are heading our way.

The National Weather Service is expecting between two and three feet of new snow to fall on the mountain passes between Friday night and next Tuesday and from four to six inches in the Missoula valley.

After the snow that fell overnight in western Montana, a Winter Weather Advisory was issued for roads in the area, including the mountain passes.

The National Weather Service office in Missoula is predicting wet snow on some mountain passes in western Montana and eastern Idaho starting Monday afternoon and continuing through Wednesday.

The National Weather Service is reporting that several bands of snow are headed towards the mountain passes and valleys of western Montana.

UPDATE - 5:00 p.m. Thursday, June 19

A windstorm in Cutbank has forced a major change for the megaload of oil equipment headed into Montana, necessitating a stay of nearly two weeks in Bonner.

The megaload of oil refinery equipment headed for the tar sands of Canada is traveling through Oregon and will soon arrive in Idaho, however, no permit has yet been issued for the shipment to cross through Montana.
