Montana’s youth hunters will have the state’s waterfowl and pheasants to themselves next weekend.

Hunting season ended with a bang just after sunset on Sunday, November 26.

After weeks of below average hunting results in west-central Montana, a little dusting of snow appears to have brought the harvest totals back into line.

Over opening weekend for general rifle season, FWP wardens issued nine citations and 12 warnings in Region 2 alone.

There’s less than two weeks for general rifle season, but hunters are getting good results.

Hunters in West Central Montana didn’t do quite as well this past weekend compared to the first week of general rifle season, but Montana FWP Public Information Officer Vivica Crowser says the results were still better than in other recent years.
