The City of Missoula is accepting applications to fill the Ward 2 position on the City Council that has been vacated by Harlan Wells.

KGVO news has learned that Ward 2 city councilor Harlan Wells will be resigning from office as of January 1 to take an administrative job with the State of Montana.

Missoula City Councilman Harlan Wells declared last week that he would pursue a referendum on the city’s attempt to acquire Mountain Water Company. But according to Missoula Elections Coordinator Rebecca Connors, if Wells can’t get the city council to approve of giving the pubic a yes or no vote, then he won’t have enough time to get the referendum on the June ballot.

Missoula voters will learn the fate of the MCPS combined bond issue on Tuesday night after the polls close at 8:00 p.m.
