Missoula County Commissioners held a Microsoft Teams meeting on Monday afternoon to hear a proposal that would close the popular Larchmont Golf Course and relocate the facility on land off Highway 93 South in order to make way for much needing housing on the Larchmont site.
Zoning for the most part hasn’t changed since the 1970’s in Missoula County, so Community and Planning staff is asking for public input on proposed updates that will affect affordable housing, agriculture, water quality and wildlife.
With the cost of real estate skyrocketing beyond many families’ ability to afford, the Montana Department of Commerce announced this week that Trust Montana, a new affordable housing land trust model in Missoula, will receive $350,000 in federal funding through the Montana Department of Commerce’s HOME Investment Partnerships Program.
The Missoula City Council’s Committee of the Whole heard discussion on Wednesday about a major affordable housing project for the Scott Street lots over 19 acres that would include 70 new homes, as well as other developments.
