24/7 Sobriety Program

The 24/7 sobriety program has been a great success in Montana, and Attorney General Tim Fox had the opportunity to share the program last week with several other state's Attorneys General.

Today, July 30, the Montana Supreme Court ruled to uphold the 24/7 Sobriety Program which requires repeat offenders to take breath tests twice a day rather than going to jail.

Chief of the Montana Highway Patrol, Col. Tom Butler said that 2014 was a better year than others for people driving on Montana's roads and highways.

A visiting District Court judge in Billings declined a request to uphold in Yellowstone County a northwestern Montana judge's ruling that fees charged by the state's 24/7 Sobriety Program are unconstitutional because they amount to pretrial punishment.

The 24/7 Sobriety Program in Montana has proven to be successful when preventing drinking and driving. The Montana Attorney General's Office is looking to expand that success rate to more counties across the state.
