Questioning HB 516
The 2011 Legislative Session has hit the midway point. Many are questioning exactly what lawmakers will accomplish. House bill 516 is controversial and seems to be a dichotomy philosophically when it comes to self governance. Civil rights Attorney Roberta Zenker says the bill flies in the face of Montana’s constitution.
Co- sponsor of the Anti-Discrimination ordinance Dave Strohmaier says a great deal of time, effort and community participation were poured into crafting the ordinance. He is concerned with the direction of house bill 516
Zenker and Strohmaier both expressed confidence that if the bill were to pass the senate, Governor Schweitzer would veto it.
