At around 12:30 Tuesday morning, Missoula Police Department officers were called to a report of an assault on Brookside Way. When officers arrived, they made contact with an adult female who reported that her ex-girlfriend, 22-year-old Jayden McCaffery, had assaulted her earlier that night. Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explains.

“She reported that McCaffrey put her hand over her mouth, put her hands around her neck, diminished her ability to breath properly, pushed her around, grappled with her, and caused her to defend herself,” Welsh said. “While the officers were speaking with the victim, McCaffery actually returned to the residence and she was eventually taken into custody.”

According to court documents, the victim reported that McCaffery was intoxicated during the attack. The victim reported that McCaffrey bit her hand and officers observed a bite mark on the victim’s finger. As a result, McCaffrey was charged with felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault.
