You could probably write a book about all the great reasons to adopt this gorgeous little gal.

Just don't title it "Velveteen Rabbit"! No, better to avoid copyright infringement. It's best to visit the shelter and see why she might be a great fit for your home.

It was another Take Me Home Tuesday here at the radio stations, sponsored by our wonderful animal-loving friends at Paul's Pancake Parlor in Missoula. Janet from the Humane Society of Western Montana introduced us to "Velveteen."  She is about one year old with beautiful, calico-like soft fur, very tame and a super-sweet disposition. Velveteen was found as a stray, and shelter policy is to hold strays for a couple of days, so she will be available for adoption this Friday, September 27.

Interestingly, Janet says she has a friend who adopted a kitten AND a bunny from the shelter, and they have bonded and become best friends, so you never know. It just might work out great.

TEMPORARY FOSTER HOMES NEEDED

The shelter is always in need of kind people to offer foster homes to pets. What that means is you open your home to one or more puppies or kittens to help them get acclimated to home life. Then when they are old enough to be adopted you bring them back to the Humane Society. The need for foster homes is always great, and according to Janet, especially this time of year.

The Humane Society of Western Montana is open Wednesdays through Sundays, 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at 5930 Highway 93 South, Missoula.
