If you're like me, then you spend a lot of time on YouTube. On any given day, I'll search for some music videos or an NPR Tiny Desk Concert or random 2008 Green Bay Packers highlights.

YouTube is a great place... Minus all the ads they've plastered over their site and shoved down our throats.

An analytics page called StatsPanda compiled YouTube streaming stats from Social Blade, which also compiles stats on content creators. StatsPanda looked at the most popular YouTube streaming channel from every state.

Montana's was hankschannel

Hankschannel has over 2.3 million subscribers and has pumped out almost 1000 videos (as of May 20, 2025).

It's operated by Hank Green, who lives right here in Missoula.

Green is a bit of a small-town celebrity who's big into science.

I'll be honest, I'm not sure what his niche is, or who his target audience is, after searching his YouTube channel. His latest videos include wolf news, why Australia has a bizarre time zone, coral reefs, Minecraft and chai tea.

Oh, and this video.

I have heard of Hank Green before, but our neighbors' most subscribed YouTube channels are mysteries to me. Idaho's was a pairing named "Brooklyn & Bailey." North Dakota's was Rachel Ballinger, Wyoming was something called "Grapeapplesauce" and South Dakota was a guy named Nakey Jakey.

Again, I have no idea what I'm talking about now.

Here's the complete list of the most subscribed YouTube channels from each state.
