Imagine a dog who’s both your calm couch companion and the life of the party on mountain hikes—Dixie is just that!

MEET DIXIE

It was another Take Me Home Tuesday at the radio stations with the Humane Society of Western Montana, presented by our animal loving friends at Paul's Pancake Parlor. Katie introduced us to Dixie, a medium/large-sized 4-year-old cutie. She's still got a ton of energy, but is through all the challenging stages of puppy-hood.  Dixie is a new arrival waiting for adoption.

Dixie is the perfect mix of mellow in the home and adventurous outside. She loves to explore the mountains, swim, and hangout with other pups, but is also perfectly happy to nap at home. She's a big fan of pretty much any snack and loves to get scratches or sit on your lap. Dixie has lived well with younger kids, another dog, and an indoor cat.

WHY DIXIE IS AT THE SHELTER

It's not uncommon for pet owners to have to give up animals they love due to human medical concerns. Dixie's family loved her a ton, but they had to re-home her because of allergies among family members. You will be glad you welcomed Dixie to her new forever home - yours.

FREE VACCINATIONS AND MICROCHIPS THURSDAY

This Thursday, October 23, from 2:00-5:30 pm, the Humane Society of Western Montana will offer free annual vaccines, rabies vaccines and microchips to the community for dogs and cats. Katie says the shelter usually serves around 100 animals in that short window of time. It is first-come, first-served, so please be patient when you bring your pets in for vaccinations and microchips.
