A swarm of bright Montana youngsters will be showing off their knowledge during three exciting state competitions.

According to UM News Service, over 100 of Montana's top young minds will gather on the University of Montana campus in Missoula this Saturday and Sunday, March 25-26 for the regional finals of the Montana Geography, History and Science Bees. And you are invited to see what the buzz is all about.

All three events are free and open to the public. The bees will be held in the university's Urey Lecture Hall. The Montana Science Bee is Saturday at 12:30 p.m. The Montana History Bee begins at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. And competitions conclude with the Montana Geography Bee at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

Qualified elementary and middle school students will compete in three preliminary rounds, together with a final round for the top students. The rounds are played using a buzzer system similar to TV quiz shows. Questions will cover all aspects of world history, science and geography.

The competitions are organized by International Academic Competitions (I A C), in partnership with UM Professor Sarah Halvorson, chair of the Department of Geography, W.A. Franke College of Forestry and Conservation. The I A C organizes "enriching and exciting team and individual competitions in history, geography, science, the humanities, and other subjects for primary and secondary students of all ages."

Best of luck to all the competitors. And if you and/or family members need to clear your heads before or after the competitions, take a walk down to the Adams Center on the UM campus and spend some time at the Missoula Home and Garden Show, 10:00 - 5:00 Saturday and 10 - 4 Sunday.
