Can anyone really argue that the western portion of the United States isn't geared more for people who are outdoor enthusiasts.

The list of everything that we have available for those who like to spend time outdoors is extensive. It doesn't take much time in Montana to be aware of all that our state has to offer for those that love the great outdoors.

When it comes to which state is the "best" for outdoor enthusiasts, that's a tough question to answer. But SmileHub.org gave it a shot.

According to their report, Montana is the best state in the country for those that like to spend time outdoors.

Montana's Number One for Outdoor Lovers

According to their numbers, we ranked high across the board in their metrics. We rank at the top when it comes to Outdoor Activity Access Rank, and we also have the most outdoor gear stores per capita of any other state. Our lowest ranking came in our environment quality where we rank 12th.

Following Montana is Alaska, Colorado, Washington, and Utah, rounding out the top five.

Mississippi Ranks Lowest for Outdoor Fun

The states that have the lowest rankings for outdoor lovers are Kansas, Arkansas, Kentucky, Oklahoma, with Mississippi coming in last.

When it comes to the economic impact that outdoor recreation has on our state, Montana ranks third with Alaska and Hawaii both ranking above us. Alaska also has the most national parks per capita of any other state.

Here is another ranking where Montana may be more attractive to someone who is looking to visit. Just keep in mind even in mid-June snow can hit Montana when you least expect it.
