The heat has arrived in Montana with some locations possibly reaching the triple digits this week. According to the National Weather Service there are locations in Montana that have been under a heat advisory.

For those that have been waiting for summer to arrive, I think we can say it is officially here.

With the sunny and clear skies we have been seeing lately, it will be the perfect opportunity to see another round of the Northern Lights that are forecast for tonight and tomorrow night.

Northern Lights May Be Visible in Montana Tonight

The chance to see the lights tonight may be the best chance to see them all this week. The forecast for the aurora borealis tonight is strong and can possibly be seen as far south as parts of Wyoming and South Dakota.

The NOAA maps below shows the extent of the forecast for tonight and tomorrow night.

The Northern Lights intensity is measured with the Kp index of geomagnetic activity. The scale runs from 0 to 9. The higher the number, the higher the intensity and the closer to the equator the lights will be visible.

Later this week, parts of Montana may expect to see some clouds with a possible chance of showers moving into our area. For the next few nights, if you can get away from the city lights, and stay up late enough you just may get a glimpse of something special.
