My cohost's birthday is coming up, and getting any food for him is a bit intimidating. Why? Because he's a fantastic baker. He made a cake for me on my birthday that my husband called "magical" so anything I would bake would probably taste like cardboard in comparison.

But I've learned that Chris would prefer something other than a cake (because he starts getting excited about it as early as August). Chris is a pie man, pumpkin if we're getting specific. When our coworkers asked what he was going to be doing for his birthday, among other things he said, "..my family will probably buy me a pumpkin pie."

Hot Take: we should serve pie for more events. I think Chris is on the right track having a pie for his birthday. Come to think of it, I'll probably ask for a Chocolate Silk pie for my next birthday.

We're coming close to "pie season" and if you want to know what pie to get for your next gathering, maybe take a hint from this sweet little study.

Yes, somebody (wisevoter.com) looked at the most popular pie in every state and while you might be thinking to yourself, "Really?" I have to also think that this is useful information. Come Thanksgiving, if your relatives from North Dakota are coming over, you may want to consider getting a Blueberry Pie, but if they're from Minnesota, go for a sweet potato pie (who'd a thought?). If you want to please the most people, wisevoter.com's survey says the most popular pie across all states is pecan pie. It was the top in 16 states.

What do Montanans prefer? I would have sworn that like my cohost Chris Montanans would prefer pumpkin pie because it seems like you can find a pumpkin pie 365 days a year in this state. But no, Montana goes for the classic, apple pie.
