We saw a forecast for the weekend of August 24/25 that showed the possibility of snow in the mountains.

It feels weird to think about snow right now, August 23, when it may be almost 90 degrees, but we all know that Montana weather can change drastically in as little as fifteen minutes.

Winter is already on the minds of a lot of Montanans. Our colleague Michelle in Bozeman wrote about the chores you'll need to do to prepare for winter.

She has great recommendations about what to buy, and what to clean, but we came across a recommendation today about something you might need to fix, from none other than Rotorooter.

Using search data, they looked at the most Googled repairs for homes in every state. There are plenty of studies done this way, and in this case, it seems like a reasonable research approach because how many times has something broken in your home and the first thing you did was Google something like "How to fix..."? If it wasn't Google, you probably were on YouTube.

The search trends are broken down into exterior, structural, and (naturally), plumbing and they looked at trends from the last 20 years, so that's another reason why this result might seem plausible.

They say Montana's most common home repair is fixing a leaky faucet.

Montana's common knowledge says you should let your faucets drip to keep your pipes from freezing, and that might be why it's Montana's most common home repair. But if you don't fix a leaky faucet, you could have other problems, and they'll plague you regardless of the season.

Leaking faucets can cause water damage and cost you more money on your water bill, not to mention it might lead to mold, or having to replace the whole faucet rather than just fixing it.

So before you have to worry about putting on snow tires, maybe check your home's faucets just to make sure they're in good shape.
