The Montana Lottery has seen a lot of excitement over the past few months, from the time the Montana Millionaire tickets sold out in record time until the day after Christmas when the four million dollar winners were announced. There were two winning tickets sold in Great Falls, one in Billings and one in Dillon.

For years I was given a Montana Lottery scratch card for the holidays, and the most I ever won was $2. But some people are way more lucky than I am. Our very own Nick Chrestenson's father was a big winner with a $3 dollar scratch ticket that he got for the holidays. He won a $30,000 jackpot and picked up his winnings the day after Christmas.

The Montana Lottery has announced that there are going to be some changes coming this year to one of their biggest games. According to their press release, the Mega Millions game is going to see some changes starting this coming April.

There is a new base price of $5 and the starting jackpot will increase from $20 million to $50 million. There will be a random multiplier that will increase non-jackpot wins. One of the most important changes, in my opinion, is that the odds of winning the jackpot are going to be getting better. The odds of winning the jackpot will improve from 1 in 302 million to 1 in 290 million.

There will still be two drawings a week on Tuesdays and Fridays. The new changes will take place starting April 5th, with the first drawing held on April 8th, 2025. As always please play responsibly and good luck to everyone.
