3 Montanans Competing In The 2024 Paris Olympics
The 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France are here. Every four years we come together to watch the world's greatest athletes battle for one of the top prizes in all of sports: a gold medal. When watching the Summer Olympics this year on NBC or Peacock (by the way, thanks Peacock for raising your subscription rates weeks before the Olympics...), keep your eye out for three Montanans competing at this year's games.
Katharine Berkoff - Swimming
A graduate of Hellgate High School from right here in Missoula, Montana, Katharine Berkoff qualified for the 100m backstroke in June at the Olympic Qualifiers in Indianapolis. Berkoff was an accomplished swimmer at NC State University. During her tenure with the Wolfpack, Berkoff won 5 NCAA Championships in the 100m backstroke and 200 and 400 medley relays.

Adding to the already stellar story, Katharine follows in her father's footsteps. David Berkoff was a four-time Olympic medalist. David was deemed a backstroke specialist and even created his move called the Berkoff Blastoff.
The games begin for Berkhoff this Sunday, July 28 with the Women's 100m Backstroke Heats. The Semifinals begin at 12:57 PM on Monday, July 29.
Ivan Roe - Shooting
U.S. Army Sgt. Ivan Roe qualified for the Olympics in Fort Moore, Georgia in March. Roe is making his first Olympics appearance this year, according to his bio on USA Shooting. The Manhattan native is the lone Montanan competing in multiple events this year - Men's 10m Air Rifle, Mixed Team Air Rifle and Men's 50m Smallbore Rifle.
The shooting competitions begin on Friday, July 26.
Nicole Heavirland - Rugby
Earning her third trip to the Summer Olympics, Nicole Heavirland of Whitefish, Montana is an alternate on the 2024 Team USA Rugby Sevens team. Heavirland graduated from Army West Point after graduating from Glacier High School. This year will be the second year Heavirland lands on the Olympics team as an alternate with a secure spot on the Tokyo 2020 team. The Whitefish native has been playing international rugby since the 2015-2016 World Rugby Sevens Series.
The Rugby Sevens seeding round begins on Sunday, July 28
